How to track crude oil prices

Crude oil is a natural raw material that is rich in hydrocarbons. Crude oil is pumped out of the ground and refined into gasoline and other oil products. In the stock market, crude oil is considered a valuable energy commodity. Its daily value affects the price that consumers pay for a gallon of gas at the pump. As the price of a barrel of crude oil escalates, so does the price of a gallon of gasoline.

Step 1

Track current crude oil prices on Yahoo! Finance. The price of a barrel of crude oil is currently monitored and updated daily. Accompanying the current price is the time of the last trade, the increase or decrease as a percentage compared to the last trade and the price movement in the current day. To access crude oil prices, go to Yahoo! Finance (see Resources section) and select the “Invest” tab. Select “Goods” and click “Energy”. Crude oil items are listed along with hot oil and natural gas.

Step 2

Follow crude oil prices on CNBC’s Commodities page. Click “Crude Oil” in the Energy Futures table. Everything about trading – from the highest price of the day to the lowest trading price of the day is listed. The average trading volume and volume of 10 days are also listed. CNBC also noted the percentage change in price. Click on any of the previous charts and see the change in crude oil prices by the hour, day, week or month.

Step 3

Find the current crude oil price on CNN Money. The energy index on CNN’s Commodities page lists the electronic trading price and the final floor price of crude oil, and the last time each update was also recorded. Electronic transactions are usually updated later than exchange transactions. CNN Money also includes changes in dollars since the last trade and percentage changes.
